Report for BBSSSA Softball 2018

Tuesday the 27th of February saw the Broken Bay Open Girls Softball Team compete for the State Championship and the chance for NSW CCC selection at International Peace Park – Seven Hills.

It’s an absolute pleasure to work with the softball girls. Their work ethic and comradery is always exceptional and this year was no different. The girls managed to win 3 of their 5 games. Natalie Tong was a standout, pitching most of the day and putting on quite a batting display. We also got to witness some excellent fielding from Lauren Taylor, taking numerous catches in the outfield. I do have to say that play of the day was most definitely the Morris combination catcher to short stop throw to get the stealing runner out at second base.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Jessica Tong, an ex Broken Bay and NSW CCC player who generously came along to support us for the day. She made an excellent base coach and provided some valuable support and motivation to the girls. A special shout out must also go to Tara Ferris and Elicia Kiss who actually helped out selectors by playing on a convenors team and pitching for the day. The girls showed incredible strength of character and represented Broken Bay with pride.

Massive congratulations to Melody Morris and Jack Taylor who were named in the NSW CCC sides to compete in March.
