WATER EVENTS:

All water competitors must wear their pink or green competition rash identification vest as well as a competitors SLSC cap.

NO COMPETITORS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE WATER WITHOUT A VEST OR CAP.

The minumum qualification to compete in the water based activities is a surf bronze medallion; a Surf Life saving certificate or a Nipper Surf Certificate

Please note the following regarding the 12 and 13 years age group and the board event:

Broken Bay uses different age groups compared to SLS to align with all our other events. The way we classify for Broken Bay is the age you are turning in that year. Surf Life Saving use the age at 30th September (See Below)

SLSNSW: The age group that your child will be in is calculated to be the age they are as at the 30th September the year you are joining. For example, if your child was 11 on the 30th September (turning 12 on the 5th Oct) they are classed as being in the under 12 age group (even though they are 12).

Due to this, at Broken Bay we have some juniors (13yrs) that may be paddling either a nipper board or a mal depending on when their birthday is for surf clubs. For this reason we offer two different races- one for nipper boards and one for mals.

Please note the following regarding qualifications for water based events:

In terms of the qualifications, schools may run a surf survival program for younger years or if students are registered with a surf club it is their age appropriate qualification that they are currently completing eg.

Under 12 years (11) - Surf smart 1

Under 13 years (12) - Surf smart 2

Under 14 years (13)  - Surf Rescue Certificate

Under no circumstances is there to be unsupervised, free swimming at this event. Students only enter the water in a designated event.

BEACH EVENTS:

If possible all competitors should wear their competitors/school SLS cap.

Schools who do not own caps could approach a surf club to borrow caps for the day.
