N.B age student turns in 2019
Each school will play each other in their pool. There will be semi-finals in each age group. i.e. 1st Pool A vs 2nd Pool B and vice versa.
Each school will provide 3 students for each age group, ranked in order of ability 1 = top player, 2 = next best, 3 = 3rd best). Players MUST maintain their ranking throughout the entire competition.
A player may only be substituted due to an injury after consulting physio at venue.
If a reserve player is used, the players must keep their respective order e.g. – player 4 slots into position 3.
All matches will be doubles and MUST be played in the following order of sets: 1 & 2, 2 & 3, 1 & 3.
Each match consists of three sets. Each pairing will play their opposite pair for one set in each match.
The number of points played per set will depend on how many teams are in each pool. 4 team pool – 12 points (first to 12 points) / 3 team pool – 20 points (first to 20 points)
All semi-final and final matches will be played to 12 points.
Service order: 2 serves per player per school / alternate. i.e. Team A – 2 serves; Team B – 2 serves etc
Short deuce rules apply. i.e. One point is played; receiving team gets choice of who receives the serve.
Matches will be decided by sets. The winning team will receive 3 points if they win the match 2 sets to 1 set. Any team that wins 3 sets to 0 receives a BONUS POINT. The losing team receives 1point
The winner of the pool is the one with the most points. If points are equal between teams, the team with the higher sets differential goes through to semi-final. If differential equal, the result of the match between these schools will count.
Players must umpire their own games and a scorer is to be provided by the third team member of the two teams. That is, the team member who is not currently playing.
The scorer should keep the score on the sheet provided on the court. This sheet is to be returned to the central desk IMMEDIATELY by a member of the winning team.
Each team must be available to start immediately their game is on. TEACHERS...please ensure your team is ready to start immediately. First matches start at 9.00am. If a team scheduled to play at 9am arrives after 9.15am first match – a forfeit may be given. In the event of transport problems Competition convenor must be notified and draw may be changed to accommodate this.
As matches are not set to start at a specific time, the team managers and students must keep an eye on the match before. Matches will run almost continuously until the final is completed.
All balls are to be left on the court, not removed for any reason
