BBSSSA Open Touch Championships and Selection

Event Information

Event: Open Boys and Girls touch Championships

Date: Tuesday 19th February 2019 (wet weather back up date: Tuesday 26th February 2019)

Venue: Doyalson RSL Oval, Doyalson (wet weather venue is Melwood Reserve, Forestville)

Commencing Time: 8.30am - be there by 8am

Concluding Time: 3.00pm

Rules and Information:

Players: 6 Players per team (Maximum 12 players nominated)

Rules: Unles otherwise stated in information sent to school, all games will be played within Australian Touch Association Rules

Format:

Boys: Round games will be played 20 minutes in length. Each team will play each other once. First past the post system will apply in this competition. There will be no semi-finals, or finals.

Girls: Teams will be split into 2 Pools. Each team will play all teams in the relevant pools. Semi Finals (involving a cross over between pools), and a Final will occur. All games, including Semi Final and Final will be 20 minutes in length.

Scoring: Win - 3 pts, Draw - 2 pts, Loss - 1 pt

Selection:‘Possibles v Probables’ selection game for both Boys and Girls will occur at the conclusion of both Boys and Girls Tournaments. Players for these teams will be chosen from the range of Round games and/or Semi’s/Final held throughout the day, and announced after the last Game by the Selector(s). This Possibles/Probables game will be run and organised by the Selectors on the day. N.B NSW Touch Selectors will be present on the day

Uniforms: Each player must wear a clearly numbered shirt and shoes when playing.  Note - no metal or screw-in studs will be permitted.

Referees: Referees will be sourced from the Manly Warringah Touch Association, however schools are required to send a qualified student referee on the day to assist.

Trophies: The team in each division which comes first will receive a trophy with gold medals for individuals. The team in each division which comes second will receive silver medals for individuals.

General: A First Aid Officer will be present; students however must provide their own strapping tape. Canteen TBC and staff lunches will be provided

Rep Teams: An Opens Boys and an Opens Girls team will be selected from the carnival to represent the Broken Bay Diocese in the CCC Touch Championships.

NB:  Opens Age Group- Turning 16/17/18/19 in 2019 only. Students younger than this age may play in the trial (if an Opens Team cannot be filled with students otherwise), but will not be considered for selection. 15 years age group – Turning 13, 14,15 in 2019).

U13 and U15 Girls Touch Championships

Date:  Tuesday 5th March 2019

Wet weather back up date: Tuesday 5th March 2019 (wet weather venue Melwood Reserve, Forestville)

Venue: Nolan's Reserve, North Manly 

Commencing Time: 8:30am – be there by 8am 

Concluding Time: 3:00 pm 

 

U13 and U15 Boys Touch Championships

Date: Thursday 28th March

Venue: Adcock Park, East Gosford

Commencing time: 8:30am - be there by 8am

Concluding time: 3:00pm

 

Rules and Information:

Players: U/13 year’s Boys and Girls only will play 7 players per team.  (A maximum of 12 players nominated per team).
